Description
If you're craving a breath of that fresh country air, then these trousers are ready to go wherever you fancy. Specially articulated knees mean unrestricted movement across tricky terrain, with tough two-way stretch fabric making things even easier. A chance of rain? No problem, as they've been specially treated to resist water absorption, so you'll stay dryer for longer. And if those hills are taking some climbing, leg vents let the air flow keeping you cool and comfy. Perfect for reaching the top and enjoying amazing views.

These are really well made, light, tons of pockets with quality zippers everywhere including one on each thigh for breathability on a hot day. They also have drawstring hems so you have all sorts of versatile uses here. I can see why these go for around $100 but I stole mine for $15 shipped. I wish they had more. I'd gobble them up!Very light and comfortable pant. This is the second pair I have owned and the first ones don’t seem worn at all after a couple of years of regular wear until you put them up against the new ones.I have owned about 6 pairs of Berghaus Ortler trousers in the last 4 years as I have found them to be the most comfortable walking trousers that I have ever owned. So much so that I wear them virtually all the time and if my wife would let me away with it I would wear them on evening's out. Despite my weight fluctuating by about 6/7 pound depending on how much walking I am doing even at my heaviest the 36 in waist trousers were still a perfect fit.So that's Ortler 1.0, so what about Ortler 2.0 - well these are utter garbage and I could only keep them buttoned if I didn't breath or move for the rest of the day. Gone is the quality material, the elasticated waist and so much material has been cut from the pockets that they wouldn't hold my compass. The stitching is now about the same quality as Primark kids pants. What is it with designers (and bean counters) who amend/cheapen every quality item in the pursuit of further profits with absolutely no thought for repeat customers. I had the same experience with the move from Berghaus Tech Tee 1.0 to 2.0. and as a result moved to a rival brand. It's the same for trousers now unless I can find Ortler 1.0 somewhere else.Massively disappointed!!!I don’t normally review purchases from Amazon but these were so disappointing I felt I had to. This is the third pair of Ortlier pants I have bought. In every way these are inferior to the previous Ortlier trousers. No elasticated waistband single stitched seams and poor material. I would have given the previous version 6 stars if it were possible. Will never buy them again.Nice looking trousers, I bought for my husbands birthday to replace an older pair of ortler trousers which were looking tatty. The styling seems to have changed slightly and the leg a bit more narrow, and the embroidered logo on the back has been replaced for a cheaper looking printed logo. They’re nice quality but not quite as good as they used to be.Let me start by saying I really like these trousers. I've worn them travelling around Iceland for a week and they kept me very comfortable in all elements; warm sun, harsh wind and even a snowstorm. The trousers have a single zipped rear pocket, two open front pockets (big enough for my wallet in one and a Samsung Ultra in a case in the other), and zipped vents along both thighs for when you get a bit warm. The legs are slim fitted and have hidden adjustable elasticated cords at the bottom. The water repellent fabric has kept me dry in light rain and also driving snow for about an hour, although isn't water proof so I wouldn't expect it to last much longer or in lashing rain.Despite highly rating these trousers I have to drop a star for the one major design flaw... the popper fastening at the waist. This. Is. So. Annoying. It holds fine when walking - not coming undone once when I bounded up rocks or hundreds of steps - but I find it constantly pops open whenever I crouch down low, get in or out of a car or do any other movement that naturally stretches the waist more. I never felt like the trousers would fall down, the zip fly holds well, but it was just an annoyance that wouldn't happen if they were fastened with a button. So all in all a worthwhile buy if you can put up with doing up the popper again now and then. The thigh vents come at the expense of more pockets, but offer the flexibility of wearing the trousers in milder or changeable weather, so that really comes down to personal preference.Went camping in foul weather. Lightweight, good stretch and very comfortable. Got rained on (a lot!) but legs never got wet. I think a bit of water got into the fabric but it dried in minutes. Excellent performance for a garment sold as a single layer and never felt 'steamy' inside like some totally waterproof outers can feel if they are not maintained perfectly. Extremely happy with this purchase and will buy another pair. Probably best to wash with specialist soap (conventional detergents can strip the durable water repellent finish and I don't know if this garment is immune to that).
